1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using OwnedWork (“the Service”), operated at ownedwork.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Description of the Service

OwnedWork provides online tools for creating invoices, proposals, and receipts, along with free educational content including business guides, a glossary, and blog articles. The Service is designed primarily for freelancers, sole traders, and small businesses operating in the United Kingdom.

Core features are available free of charge. We may offer premium features or paid plans in the future, which will be clearly identified and subject to separate terms.

3. Account registration

Some features require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account details up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us immediately at hello@ownedwork.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Create fraudulent, misleading, or unlawful invoices, proposals, or receipts
  • Impersonate another person or business
  • Transmit malware, spam, or any harmful content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' data
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service beyond what is permitted by our robots.txt
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation, including UK tax and financial regulations

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

5. Your content and data

You retain full ownership of all data you enter into OwnedWork, including invoice details, client information, and document content. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We will not share your data with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual property

All content on OwnedWork — including text, guides, graphics, logos, software, and design — is owned by OwnedWork or its licensors and is protected by UK and international copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

Invoices, proposals, and receipts you generate using our tools are yours. The templates and underlying software remain our property.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

While we strive to provide accurate guides and tools, OwnedWork does not provide accounting, tax, or legal advice. Our content is educational and should not be treated as a substitute for professional advice. Always consult a qualified accountant or solicitor for matters specific to your business.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OwnedWork shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion if we believe you have violated these terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
